Why You Should Never Wear AirPods

AirPods have quickly become one of the most popular gadgets on the market, with everyone from celebrities to regular people wearing them. Apple’s wireless earbuds are not only stylish, but they’re also extremely practical and offer a great listening experience.

Their popularity, however, doesn’t mean that they’re not without their drawbacks. While they’re convenient and offer great sound quality, there are a few reasons why you might want to consider opting for a different model for your wireless listening needs.

8 reasons why you shouldn’t wear AirPods

1. They’re potentially bad for your health

Studies have shown that electromagnetic radiation from Bluetooth devices can be harmful to your health because they sit so close to your brain. And some users believe that AirPods emit more radiation than other Bluetooth devices, thereby making them more dangerous.

Now, there has been no concrete evidence to suggest that this is the case, and the jury’s still out on whether or not wearing AirPods is actually bad for your health, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

2. They’re easy to lose

Another downside to AirPods is that they’re very small and can slip out of your ears with little to no effort. Once they’re out, it can be very difficult to find them again, especially if you’re in a crowded place.

3. They’re expensive

While there are plenty of cheaper Bluetooth earbuds on the market, AirPods still command a pretty hefty price tag. The retail price for a new pair of AirPods is $159, and that doesn’t even include the cost of replacements if you lose one.

You’re essentially paying for the Apple name here, as, although the audio quality is good, it’s not necessarily better than what you can get from other high-end brands that cost less.

4. Battery life isn’t spectacular

One of the biggest selling points of AirPods is that they offer a completely wireless listening experience. But in order to achieve this, they have to sacrifice battery life.

While you can get around 5 hours of listening time on a single charge, this drops significantly if you’re using them for phone calls or if you have the volume turned up all the way.

Thus, if you have a long journey or plane ride, be prepared for your AirPods to die on you. That’s why it’s best to keep a wired pair on hand.

5. They’re so distinct that they might make you a target

Apple devices are notoriously popular among thieves, and AirPods are no exception. These types of products sell well on the black market.

And because of the AirPods’ distinct white color and design, they’re easy to spot, so if you’re wearing them in a public place, you could be at risk of being targeted by criminals.

6. They’re not waterproof

If you’re someone who’s always on the go and likes to listen to music while working out or doing other activities, you might be disappointed to know that AirPods are not waterproof.

So if you sweat a lot or if it starts raining, your AirPods will probably not fare too well.

7. They might fall out of your ears

Another potential downside to AirPods is that they might not fit snugly in your ears, which means that they could fall out if you’re moving around a lot.

If you have small ears, this is definitely something to keep in mind.

8. You might look silly wearing them

Last but not least, it’s worth considering that you might look a bit silly walking around with a pair of white earbuds sticking out of your head. Unlike other brands, which don’t stand out in terms of design, AirPods have an unusual design that’s a bit of an acquired taste.

While this isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re self-conscious about how you look in public.
